Degrowth by Design or Disaster? Democratic organizing and Atypical Employment as Degrowth Strategy

Reducing working hours and redistributing ressources through democratic organising are within degrowth scholarship promoted as one plausible solution to bring current overshooting planetary boundaries in balance. I am curious to explore alternative labor strategies and democratic types of organizing in support of degrowth economics.

  • How does atypical employment, cooperative businesses, and frameworks for measuring impact relate to urgent needs for new socio-economic-ecological models which prioritize human and planetary wellbeing?
  • What can be the scholars’ role or strategy in contributing to actual solutions?
