VUCCA Project Update
As the VUCCA research is about to enter the research phase, we strive to deepen our collaborative work on climate change vulnerability and adaptation among smallholder farmers.

This past week, Martin Reinhardt Nielsen, Nuwategeka Expedito, Julian Hopwood and Christine Oryema held a series of co-learning sessions with our local research collaborators and the Acholi Land Lab—a community-based research team working on land in the Acholi subregion.
These gatherings were not just about training—they were about building shared understanding, grounding our methods in local realities, and preparing for an upcoming survey.
Research on vulnerability and adaptation to climate change is complex and inherently contextual. That’s why we’re committed to centering local knowledge, fostering mutual learning, and ensuring that our work reflects the lived experiences and priorities of the communities we engage with.
